After lunch we landed in Telefon Bay where we walked to the edge
of the crater formed in the 1969 eruption.
Ash
covers the icefields around the sides of the crater and keeps it
from melting. Fred joined the group that hiked up a long, sloping
hill for another view of the surroundings.
